My existence began as an old 1972 Volkswagen sitting out in Soupy's field. My creator, Brian Ebelhar, had big plans for me. He bought me and brought me home to his garage. That is when I received my "extreme makeover". First he cut me in two, he was going to use my original rear end, my motor and my tranny. He had bought a big ole' fiberglass thing to be my body. My parts started going places, my mind (a 1600cc aircooled engine) went to Farmer's Machine Shop in Evansville to see if I still had "sense" enough to make everything else go. My tranny (a 3 speed fully automatic) went to Nicky Holemans's Garage in Sturgis (Kentucky, that is) to see if I was going to be able to move. In the mean time Brian was busy deciding what he wanted me to look like. He decided that he didn't want me to be like all the other "trikes" in the world, I was to be special. I was moved to a different shop, where things started happening to me. The fiberglass body was soon discarded. Brian decided to build my new frame himself, all brand new, nothing but the best for me!!!! He and Bill Baird and Roger Carter put all their thoughts, ideas and expertise together and I began to come together. My frame was built, my neck was built, my A-arms were built, my foot pegs, my fenders were even built by hand. No mail order handlebars or seat for me either, they were built just for me, because I am special. I was even given coil over shocks and springs to make sure my ride would be smooth!! I also received two 3.5 gallon tanks to hold my fuel. When I began to come together of course I had to have a color. Because of my stand out personality, naturally I needed to be bright and noticeable -- RED!!! That is me!!! Analois, Brian's wife, thought I needed some contrast to set me off, so my fenders and wing were painted white and some wild graphics added, after all I do have somewhat of a wild side. That's why I have wheelie bars, sometimes I get a little crazy and show off a bit. Who wouldn't be wild with the "Meats" they put on me - 13" Mickey Thompson's -- gotta be fast!!!
Then came the extra's: what do you think of my spikes??? Pretty cool huh?? My triple trees are different also, did you notice?? Still yet more creations from the minds of my creators!!! Not wanting to ever "forget where I came from" you will notice my initials (VW) have not changed, they are in plain sight on my wing, but my name is not Volkswagen anymore, it is now Very Wicked. This is just a very brief summary of how I came to be. Brian or Roger will be happy to tell you all about me. All you have to do is ask!!! Hope you enjoyed seeing me, for I sure do enjoy posing for you. Drive Safely and have a good day. |
